OCR had developed two new GCSE suites. The challenge was to trail blaze the two new suites, and gain maximum interest and take up of the new curriculum with science teachers.
Headline grabbing research showed that UK students said ‘science taught at school lacked invention’, many wanted to drop the subject and over half surveyed didn’t know what Einstein did to become famous. This backed up with case studies of pilot centres helped to create awareness of the solution; the new suites from OCR. Having stirred up interest teachers were given an incentive to attend a launch event and workshops – all fronted by Professor Robert Winston.
